Holy Land – Jordan Extension

 

Day 01  LOD – Negev
Upon arrival to Ben Gurion’s airport, meet and assist by our representative, and drive to your hotel in the Negev, dinner and overnight.

Day 02  Ein Avdat – Ramon Crater – Arabeh Valley – Aqaba
After breakfast, drive towards Ein Avdat, walk through the desert canyon, reaching the water fall. Continue south towards Ramon Crater, one of the world’s largest natural craters. Drive further south east through the Arabeh Valley, crossing the borders towards Jordan.
Dinner and overnight at your hotel in Aqaba.

Day 03  Wadi Rum – Petra
After breakfast, explore the colorful desert of Wadi Rum. Excursion through its sands riding 4x4 vehicles. Drive to the Nabatean capital, the Rose City of Petra.
Dinner and overnight in Petra.

Day 04  Petra Full day
After breakfast, horse ride to the entrance of the old city, and visit the ancient Nabatean Capital: Al-Siq, El-Deir (Monastery), El-Khazneh (Treasury), and the Byzantine ruins.
Return to hotel in Petra, dinner and overnight.

Day 05  Kerak – Mt. Nebo – Bethany – Amman
After breakfast, drive towards the Crusader fortress of Kerak. Next continue towards Mt. Nebo, from where Moses stood and saw the Promised Land extending from Dan to Beersheba.  Visit the famous Holy Land mosaic of Madaba, which is a 6th century mosaic-map of the Middle East. Continue to Bethany, the Baptismal site of Jesus on the Jordan River.
Drive to your hotel in Amman, dinner and overnight.

Day 06  Jerash – Sheikh Hussein bridge – Nazareth
After breakfast, drive to the ancient city of Gerasa, or Jerash as it has also been known for a long time in history, explore the Greco-Roman ruins of a city which was once a part of the Decapolis. Next, drive towards the Jordanian-Israeli border of Sheikh Hussein. Border formalities, and transfer to Nazareth.
Dinner and overnight in Nazareth.

Day 07  Nazareth – Mount Tabor
This day will be dedicated for the visits of the city of Nazareth, starting with the Basilica of the Annunciation, which is built over the house of Mary. Then the group will visit the Synagogue-Church, followed by St. Gabriel’s Church and Mary’s well. In the afternoon the group will head to the Mount of Tabor to visit the Franciscan Basilica on the top of the mountain, built over the place where the Transfiguration of Jesus took place.
Back to Nazareth, dinner and overnight.

Day 08  Cana Sea of Galilee
After breakfast, drive to the village of Cana, the place of the first miracle performed by our Jesus Christ. The group will visit the Franciscan church, then drive to the Sea of Galilee visiting the following sites: the Mount of Beatitudes with it’s fabulous view over the lake, Tabgha with its springs, where the miracles of multiplying the fish and loaves took place, and Capernaum, the “Town of Jesus”, with its Synagogue and St. Peter’s house.
Return to Nazareth, dinner and overnight.

Day 09  Nablus – Taybeh – Bethlehem
After breakfast, drive through Samaria towards the biblical city of Sichem, known today as Nablus, and visit Jacob’s well inside the Greek-Orthodox church. Next, climb up to the top of Mount Girzim, the place of the Samaritan temple. Continue towards the village of Taybeh, and visit the ruins of the Byzantine church of St. George.
Drive to Bethlehem, dinner and overnight.

Day 10  Bethlehem – Israel Museum
After breakfast, visit the village of Bet Sahour and the Franciscan chapel at the “Shepherds’ Field” ( Lk 2,8-21), where according to tradition, the angels appeared to the shepherds announcing them the birth of the Savior. Next, visit the Basilica of the Nativity,( Lu 2, 1-21) built over the birth place of Jesus. Continue to Jerusalem, visiting the Israel Museum, where one can see an exceptional model of Jerusalem representing the 2nd Temple period( Jn 2, 19-21), as in the time of Jesus. Next visit the Shrine of the Book, where the Dead Sea scrolls are being exhibited.
Drive to hotel in Jerusalem, dinner and overnight.

Day 11  Mount of Olives – Mount Zion
After breakfast, drive up to Mount of Olives ( Lk 22,39), and visit the Ascension Mosque ( LK 24,50), the Eleona ( mt 6,7-13) (Pater Noster Church), the Chapel of Dominus Flevit |( Mk 13,3), the church of All Nations and Gethsemani ( Mt 26,30-56). Continue to Mount Zion, and visit the German Dormition Abbey, where according to local tradition, the Blessed Mother slept her eternal sleep, followed by the Upper Room ( Jn 13;14;15)and the church of St. Peter in Gallicantu ( Jn 18, 15-27), which is built over the house of Caiaphas the high priest.
Return to hotel, dinner and overnight.

Day 12  Old City of Jerusalem
After breakfast, walk towards the Western Wall (Wailing Wall), next up on the top of the Temple Mount ( Mt 21, 12-17)t, and visit the exteriors of the Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock, the third most holy site in Islam. Continue towards the church of St. Anne( Jn 5, 1-18) with the pool of Bethesda, and walk on the Via Dolorosa ( Mt 27, 27-31 / Mk 14,66-72 / Lk 22, 56-62)  (Way of the Cross) towards the Holy Sepulcher, which is built over the empty tomb of Jesus.
Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.

Day 13  LOD
Depending on flight time, drive to the airport, with a possibility to visit Abu Gosh en route.
